Scrappy Quilt Progress and Uncle's Handwarmers

I've been making some progress with my Bright Stars patchwork quilt.

I laid out a couple of blocks to make sure the star pattern works with so many light and dark scraps....and it does!

See the half star at the top!

I've sewn lots of 4 patch units....

Lots of half square triangles using the Magic 8 Method (see here).....

......and I've made 5 blocks...laid out together here to show the pattern.....

On the knitting front, I've just finished some green handwarmers.....

...they're for my Uncle Brian's birthday......

The pattern is very easy...you can find it here.

Thanks for visiting!

  3. Hi Maggie, the quilt is gorgeous! I have had a few scrappy quilt thoughts lately too. Now I wish I had brought some fabric I spotted in the RSPCA. Yours is very clever. Lovely wrist warmers too. He will love them. X

  8. How have I missed so many of your posts? I know there for a bit I was having problems getting to you but whoever or whatever fixed it and I'm so glad! I have to catch up though! LOL! I like how you are showing the different steps to putting your quilt together. It always seems like such a big project and it is but you make it sound more enjoyable by doing a little bit at a time.

  9. Oh, the hand knit mitts are great and I want to make a pair for my son as he was out the other day replacing headlights on his sister's car and got frost bite on the tops of his hands. Those would leave his fingers free but at least give him some protection. They live in Iowa, U.S. and it is bitter cold there.
