Camping Weekend and Visiting Nunney Castle

We've just spend a fantastic weekend visiting my son George who lives in Frome.

We stayed in our motorhome Harvey J on a farm campsite nearby. The farmer owners were in the midst of lambing.

We spent our weekend taking Spencer for walks including Heaven's Gate, Shear Water Lake and we also visited the spectacular Nunney Castle.

The weekend was rounded off very nicely with a delicious Sunday lunch.

Here's a few pics of our weekend:

Nunney Castle is set right in the middle of the village.

The castle was built in the 1370s by local knight, Sir John de la Mare.

The castle was besieged and damaged in 1645 by the Parliamentarians during the English Civil War.

Thanks for popping by!

  2. lovely photos Maggie . I did a walk around Sheer water once many years ago on a very snowy day. I had brought Carolan to meet some boy that she had previously met on one of our holidays. I dropped her for the day at the boy's parent's house in Warminster. I don't know who was more bemused, to my and possibly their horror, the boy turned out to be underage and Carolan somewhat older and more worldly. I was so embarrassed when I found out. Best Wishes x
