Spencer has been looking cool this Sunday wearing a baseball cap......
Keeping the sun off his head as it's stopped raining at last :)
We've had a lovely walk on the Common today and it stayed dry the whole time :)
On the wooded path up to the common....we saw Wild Garlic flowering.......
Up on the Common........delicate blue speedwell in the grass
and the horse chestnut already has pretty blossom......
We found a magical fairy ring of mushrooms....
I'd never seen one of these before....
If you look closely you can see the mushrooms form an arc....
There are two different theories as to what causes these fairy rings which you can read about here.
These gorgeous tiny blue flowers are just blooming......
And there are thousands of cowslips everywhere.....
What about this then?
We found this a couple of weeks ago on the wooded path..
A really weird fungus.....
Never seen anything like this before....
If we were in the olden days,
I would imagine it would be called something like 'Witch's Nose' !

Have a lovely week - let's hope the sun keeps shining :)

As always Spencer looks gorgeous! The Fairy rings are really interesting and that sure is one weird looking fungus! x
ReplyDeleteOh, the casual look, definitely suits him! What lovely countryside you have near you. x
ReplyDeleteHow gorgeous is Spencer! And lovely photos from your walk - I love that horse chestnut tree!
ReplyDeleteSpencer looks quite comfortable in his baseball cap. Thanks for sharing the pictures from your walk. What a beautiful place you live in! I'm quite envious of those views.
ReplyDeleteOh Spencer is so cute-I love the expression on his face!! I used to read about fairy rings in Enid Blyton books when I was a kid and I've always wondered what they were.... xx
ReplyDeleteDear Maggie, I recently discovered your blog and I really like it!
ReplyDeleteI'm from Holland but I've been in the Cotswolds several times, on holidays.
We stayed in a cottage near Nailsworth, in Amberley I think.
(That was about 20 years ago... I wasn't even 20 years old then!)
Anyway, we really loved it there and it's so nice to see were you live.
See you, kind regards from Mirjam.
Dear Maggie, thank you so much for your lovely response on my blog!
ReplyDeleteI'm really happy about meeting you and looking forward to hear/ see more of you.
Love, Mirjam.
By the way: I saw that some of the blogs we read are similar, funny:)!
Loving Spencer's baseball cap-so cool lol! And as for the weird fungus, I'm sure I saw Hugh Fearnley cooking with that on tv recently...that's going to bug me now so i may investigate further and let you know!!
