I live this blanket!! I love colour and colour progressions in particular, this is almost good enough for me to want to start knitting again! (I'm a sewer, not a knitter. Can't knit for toffee, but...)

DeleteBeautiful, beautiful, blanket! Isn't it crocheted? Either way, I'm making one after my YOP (year of projects) that I just committed to...maybe I can still squeeze that one onto my list! LOL! Are you on Ravelry (www.ravelry.com...free)? There's the Year of Projects that just started and it's a group for bloggers who knit/crochet...heck, I even have quilting projects and cross stitch on my list! I wish you would join! I love it because it's motivating and inspiring and it just makes me joyful! What can I say?

So I visited the SL-blog for the instruction, but can´t find out how to make a rectangle instead of a square. Would you please be so kind to let me know how you have made your first colour row with the 8 clusters to start a rectangle blanket? This would be marvellous, I so much would love to make a blanket like yours.

ReplyDeleteHi, Thanks for visiting my blog and for providing the link to the oblong pattern. I couldn't find it as it seemed to have disappeared off Sarah's site! I used all sorts of makes of double knitting (UK) yarn, mainly bargain acrylics. As far as the colours are concerned, I just tried to choose complimentary graduating colours next to each other. I didn't plan the colours just added which I thought looked good next to the yarn I had used in the previous row. Hope this helps! Maggie xx
DeleteLove your colours you used in your blanket. I would love to make it. Have tried the stitch but I found it difficult but will keep trying. I was wondering How big yours is as I would like to make a large one also how much wool you used if possible.
ReplyDeleteHi Anne, My blanket is about 1.5m by 1m. The stitch does get easier! Soon you'll be able to do it without thinking about it! How much wool I used is a tricky one as I just used wools from my stash. You only need small amount for the first few rows. The last few rows probably took about 50g each but this is a guess. I certainly didn't use up a 100g ball on any of the rows. Maggie xx

ReplyDeleteMy sisters have been trying to get me to take up crochet. They say it's much faster than knitting. I think your afghan is the deciding factor. It is spectacular! I absolutely love it. I'm off now to follow your links and hopefully find the pattern. lol - probably a bit much for a beginner but I will have incentive :-)
ReplyDeleteam making a baby blanket using this pattern but for a square one. Want it to be about 46 inch square or so. So far mine weighs 17.1 oz and it is 30 inch square. I have 15 inches more to to go. Actually I have to have it completed 5/17 for the baby shower.
